What is a dock seal?
Typically made from foam, dock seals are pads that the trailer compresses into when it backs in and comes to rest against the dock bumpers, and they form a complete and secure seal around the three sides of the trailer. An affordable solution to a problem that could prove extremely costly over a period, dock seals provide a tight seal for a low price, and are an economic solution. If the dock is in frequent use though, it’s not unusual for the dock seals to become worn, but because of their affordability, they can be replaced with minimal disruption. Dock seals, by the nature of their design, typically take up less space on the outside of the dock, so, if space is at a premium in your dock, one of our seals could be a great money and deficiency saving option.
Dock seals come in all shapes and sizes, but the more you spend on them (as with many things in life!), the better they will perform, and the longer they will last. Top of the range dock seals come with special features that help to protect against many different types of damage, such as trailer pressure, friction, burns from trailer marker lights and head pad sag and pop off.

Handmade to spec for each unique dock opening, our dock seals come with a variety of options, such as:
- Wear pleats – these are available in 4-inch and 8-inch overlaps to help add more durability to each seal
- Drop flaps – these add more durability to the seals and come in 4-inch and 8-inch overlaps
- Adjustable head curtain – this is a movable curtain that can be used to service various truck heights
- Wedged foam – this creates a tighter seal for larger openings with the use of a foam wedge
- Tapered seals – to prevent over compression of the foam and relieve building pressure, extending the life of the seal, they are tapered in sloped applications.
